Rocket
Launch (behind Ithan ES) on Sunday September 23 from
4-6PM. If you made a rocket at the
meeting last week, you can come launch it.
If you are new to scouts, we can probably find you an extra rocket to
launch. Just come by and introduce
yourself (and your son).

Its
POPCORN time again. Please make sure
your child signs up for at least one show and sell event. Contact Jennifer H for times. Sil S will be
managing the popcorn sale this year.
2006-7 Announcement Archive
- The Pack 19 End of Year Picnic will be held again at Fenimore Woods in Wayne on June 2 (1-4:30PM). Activities include crafts, food, games
and the end of year awards. Please
RSVP to Barbara G.
- Our annual Invention Convention (Ithan ES): May
29 at 6:45-8PM. We will be building
towers and helicopters and taking things apart. Please also bring a friend to learn more
about Pack 19.
- The next pack meeting will be
the Pinewood Derby cut out at 7PM at Ithan ES on
March 20. Scouts will also be doing leatherworking projects while
waiting to cut out their car. It would be helpful (but not
necessary) to have the design already drawn on the car before arriving to
speed things along.
- The Pinewood Derby is coming
soon. We distributed cars at the February pack meeting. If you
still need a car, contact Lorin H. Additional cars can also be
obtained at the Scout store or at local hobby shops. The Pinewood
Derby weigh-in (mandatory for participants) will be held on April 13
(6:30-8:30PM); the actual race which will
be held on April 14 starting at 8AM (ending no later than 11:30AM and
likely earlier). The weigh-in and the race will be held at Radnor

- Congratulations to all our
scouts who earned their advancements at the Blue and Gold Dinner in late
February including 6 scouts that received the "Arrow of Light",
the highest award in cub scouting.
- The Tiger Den will be meeting at 6:30PM at the Ithan ES Lodge (the trailers to the right of the Ithan traffic circle in front of the school).
The Bear Den will also be meeting in the Lodge at 7:00PM.
- Overnight at the Battleship New
Jersey (November 4, starts at approximately 6PM at the Battleship
which is docked next to the Camden Aquarium, and finishes mid-morning the
following day). Open to scouts who are 7 and older - this is a
policy enforced by the Battleship organization (we usually do another trip
in the Spring for the younger kids after they
turn 7). Please sign up with the cubmaster
(Rick E.) ASAP to hold your space.
- It is membership renewal time. For returning
scouts, you just need to confirm you will be rejoining. For new
scouts, you need to fill out a membership application. Dues this
year for new and returning scouts are $52 ($40 if you do not want to
receive the scouting magazine). Please give dues & forms to your
Den leader or Lorin H (membership chair) at any pack meeting.
- The Rocket Launch scheduled for Saturday has been
postponed to 4PM, Sunday September 17 in the field behind Ithan ES.
- The first pack meeting of the year (MadScience
on space exploration) is rescheduled to
September 26, 7PM at Ithan Elementary School.
2005-6
Announcement Archive
- The
Pinewood Derby is scheduled for 8AM, April 1 at Radnor ES (mandatory
weigh-in is on March 31 from 6:30-8:30PM at Radnor ES). Here is the information sheet. Contact the race
chairman, Rick E for more details.
- On March
21 we will be having two activities at our Pack Meeting: 1) Mr. Marc Shay (4th degree black belt) from American Karate Studios will be doing
a safety and self-defense program, and 2) Scouts will also be able
to cut out their Pinewood derby cars (there will not be time for design,
so please have your design done and marked on the car before coming to the
meeting).
- The pack meeting
on February 21 will be held at Jennifer H's house in Villanova. An
e-mail went out with directions on Thursday February 16. We will be
visited by some folks who participate in civil war reenactments and will
get a chance to see civil war clothing, weapons and other supplies.
- The
Pinewood Derby is coming soon. Cutout night will happen at the March
Pack Meeting. The Derby will be held on April 1. More details
about times for the event and the weigh-in (on March 31) will be posted. Contact Rick E with any
questions.
- On
March 10 we will be returning to the Franklin Institute for the camping
program. Fred W is coordinating the trip.
- Our
annual Blue and Gold Dinner will once again be held at Yang Ming
Restaurant in Bryn Mawr on Friday, February
24. Tickets are available at pack meetings. Contact Sherry S
with questions.
- Pack
19 will be participating in the annual Scout Swimming Program on February
19 from 4:30 - 6:30PM at the Don Guanella
school, 1797 South Sproul Road
, Springfield, PA 19064. Contact Macy S for more
information.
- On
February 18, we will once again participate in the Valley Forge
Pilgrimage from 8AM to 2PM at Valley Forge National Park. It is
an opportunity to experience life at Valley Forge in the Winter and learn some local history.
- Congratulations
to the salesmen of Pack 19 ... we took the top slot in overall Popcorn
Sales in the Constellation District.
- The
Pack Meeting for Community Service has been moved back to Ithan Elementary School, November 15 at 7PM.
- We
were the top Pack in Popcorn Sales again this year in the Constellation
District. Great job, guys!
- We
will be meeting at the Schuylkill Center on Sunday, November
6 (12-2PM) to go hiking and earn the Wildlife Conservation belt loop.
- The
Pack Calendar has been updated with
the dates for 2006. Detail will be filled in as we go.
- The
Hawk Mountain trip for October 9 (Sunday) has been postponed due to
weather. An e-mail will go out when we have it rescheduled.
- We will be participating in the
annual Thanksgiving food drive. More information will be provided at
the next pack meeting.
- Each year the district holds a
welcome Ceremony for all NEW Cub Scouts at the Phila
Zoo on Oct 15th at 11:00 AM (All
NEW Cub Scouts and a parent will be admitted free). Discounted rate
available for family & friends. E-mail Jennifer H if you have
any questions (tigerleader at pack19.net).
- First Pack Meeting is Tuesday
September 20 from 7-8PM at Ithan ES. The
Tiger Den (1st graders) will also be meeting from 6:30-7.
- Reminder: The Rocket
Launch is Scheduled for 3:30 Sunday in the field behind Ithan ES (bring your rocket - Professor Bob will
provide launch equipment and supplies)
- FALL
RECRUITING EVENT - Rocket Building - Our first event of
the year is scheduled for September 12, 2005, 7PM at the Ithan ES cafetorium.
Our guest, Professor Bob, will help us build model rockets (to be launched,
weather permitting, September 18 at 3:30PM, field behind Ithan ES). New scout families and existing Pack
19 families are welcome. Cost is $10 per rocket and includes the
launch.

Announcement Archive
- A group of pack kids will be getting
together at the Philadelphia Mineral Treasures and Fossil Fair at the Shriners LuLu Temple in
Plymouth Meeting on Saturday April 9 at 3PM. More information available here.
- The Pinewood derby is coming
up. Inspection is 5-8PM 4/1 at Radnor Elementary School (inspection is
required for all entrants). The actual race will be on 4/2 starting
at 9AM. See the Pinewood Derby Page for more
detail. New potential scouts are welcome at the race.
- Our annual camping trip to
Camp Delmont is scheduled for April 22-24. More details coming soon.
- Academy of Natural Sciences
SAFARI OVERNIGHT is scheduled for February 25, 2005. Please RSVP to
Rick W. Cost is $41 for kids and $36 for Adults. Additional
details can be found on the Academy web site.
- March
15 is Pinewood Derby Cut out night. More information to come.
- The
Blue and Gold Banquet will be held at Yang Ming Restaurant on February
4. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased from Iesha L. at pack meetings.
- The
Scout Pilgrimage Event will be held at the Valley Forge Historical Park
(February 19, 9AM-1:30PM). This is the longest running event in Scouting
(the first Pilgramage was held in 1912). Meet scouts from all over
the region and hike some of the same trails as the Continental Army did
under General George Washington in 1777-78. Registration deadline is
February 1st. The cost is $9.00 per person. To register, please send

- On
January 16 BSA Constellation District swimming lessons will be held at
Haverford School. Cubs will earn their swimming belt loop
& pin and Webelos will additionally earn their
Aquanaut. Time 4:30pm - 6:30pm No cost. Make up date is
January 23rd 4:30 - 6:30pm. Please send an e-mail to bsaswimming@pack19.net if you plan to
attend.
- The
Cub Leaders Pow-Wow will be held at Episcopal
Academy 8AM-4PM on January 15.
- A
reminder that all Popcorn Order forms are due to Patti by October
27th. These can be mailed, but please keep the original and send a
copy. All popcorn ordered will be available for pickup by November
13.
- The
Bear Den calendar is now up to date.
- We have
been invited to attend the Boy Scout Troop 284 bonfire on November 13 at
5:30PM at their Cabin in Radnor (information and directions here)
- The Battleship New Jersey Caravan
meets at Ithan Elementary at 4:45PM, October 30
- The Halloween Adventure Caravan
meets at Ithan Elementary at 1:30PM on October

- The Pack Calendar is now up to

- The
overnight trip to the USS New Jersey is set for October 30. To
participate you must either send an e-mail to ussnj@pack19.net or call Macy to
indicate your interest (we have 30 slots reserved and need to get a final
count ASAP). The cost is $49 per person and every child must be

- The dates for the Bear Den Meetings
are now available (the first meeting will be Tuesday October 5th, 7PM at Ithan ES).
- Its Popcorn Time! The annual
popcorn sale is our only fundraiser of the year so we need to put the
extra effort needed to make it a success. For those of you who
missed the meeting, I have a copy of the excellent sales strategy
presentation that we discussed (thanks to Michael Beck for making this
available - e-mail me at membership@pack19.net). Also, if you
haven't already, please sign up with Patti (our popcorn coordinator) for a
2 hour sales shift at a location around town.
- Our first pack meeting of the season
will be held in the Ithan Elementary School Cafetorium at 7PM on Tuesday, September 21. We
have a special "Snake and Reptile Show" program that should be
great fun for the boys. All scouts, siblings and prospective scouts
welcome.
- The 2004-5 Tiger
Den calendar of activities is now posted. Click on

- We had a great rocket launch
on Sunday (Sep 19). Thanks go out to Prof. Bob and all the kids and
parents that made the event a success.
- We now have the parent
orientation guide available online. Click here to download a copy in PDF format
(note: 450KB file size). This guide provides a 10 page
overview on how Pack 19 and Cub Scouts in general operate.
- The Fall Round-up meeting
will be held on September 14 for new and returning scouts. See the
announcement above for more details. Watch for updates of the pack and Den
calendars over the next couple of months. If you missed the fall
round-up, you can still join. Just contact our
membership chair.
- Special
thanks to the folks at NBC 10 who allowed our pack to tour their news
facilities in July.

Bear
Den Meeting Open to All Scouts: The Pennsylvania Resources Council is
coming to speak to us at Ithan, 7PM on Tuesday April
13. They will be discussing the environment and how Scouts can do their
part. A portion of the presentation will be addressing one of the Bear
Achievements if anyone still needs to work toward their badge. More
broadly, the speaker will talk about recycling, natural resources, conservation
and litter.

The
Tiger Calendar is now current through the summer. Please look there for
upcoming events.

The
Blue and Gold Dinner will be held Friday, February 6 at the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, at 6PM. We will be
featuring a magician, distributing awards and enjoying dinner together as a
Pack. An e-mail has been sent with more information. Please sign up
to bring something (a pasta dish, salad or dessert to serve 12) - Joanne R is
coordinating the event.

The
next pack meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 20. The meeting will
feature Mr. Bennett Hill, a Radnor Historian, who will be talking about our
local hero General Anthony Wayne. As usual, the meeting with be at 7PM at
Ithan.

The
next Tiger Den meeting will be held on January 6th at 7PM to kick off
activities. The location will most likely be Ithan
Elementary School - we will send an e-mail and update this page when the
location is confirmed.

There
is a Pack Meeting on Tuesday Dec 16 at 7PM. All the boys should bring a
clear glass jar (not plastic or colored glass) for a holiday craft project. The
jar size should be between a jelly jar and a 32 oz spaghetti sauce-type
jar. If you have an extra jar, please bring it along in case some folks
don't get the message or forget. We are also going to make holiday bird
feeders with peanut butter. If anyone has a severe peanut allergy, they should
let the organizer know immediately (Lora R). We will not be intentionally eating
the peanut butter, because it's for the birds!! (Pun intended.)

popcorn at the Wayne Acme and Ace Hardware in Wayne. Please sign up with
Lorri V (popcorn@pack19.net) if you are
interested. Times currently available are: Any Hour from 10-2 at
Ace Hardware and 10, 11 or 2PM at Acme. All Popcorn orders are due on
October 21 (at the pack meeting) or e-mailed to Lorri (again, popcorn@pack19.net) if you can't
attend. Remember, this is our only major fundraiser of the year so your
participation is crucial.

9/22/03) We have reserved 35 Slots (Children + Adult Partner) for an overnight
on the USS New Jersey. The cost will be $45 per person. We need to
get a solid participation count on this by October 1 and payments in to us by
October 6 to guarantee our spots. See the USS New Jersey

this Saturday (September 27) at dusk (~7PM). Their cabin is located off

9/18/03) Our first meeting of the year was held at Ithan
Elementary School on September 16 where we introduced new members to the pack
and enjoyed a program by Professor Bob, the Science Guy, who showed us how to
construct model rockets. (Launch date currently scheduled for Sunday, September
21 at 2PM in the fields at Ithan Elementary School -
