Overnight on the USS New Jersey

(about the USS New Jersey)

(NOTE:  This is the trip from 2005 - this will be updated).

Once again we will be spending the night on the Battleship New Jersey.  The cost is $49.50 per person.  Please RSVP to Larry C by Monday, October 17 and bring your check for the cost to the pack meeting on Tuesday, October 18.  Please note that no refunds will be given once you have committed to attend.

Come aboard BB-62 and:
- Stow your gear in a locker, the same lockers that held sailor's personal belongings when at sea.
- Sleep in bunks- just like enlisted sailors.
- "Chow down" in the Crew's Mess.
- Even purchase a personalized "Dog Tag"!

Learn your way around our nation's most decorated battleship by participating in a scavenger hunt. Guard the ship by "standing watch" just like former crew members. Enter the ship's legendary 16-inch gun turrets. Visit the Combat Engagement Center, and
participate in a simulated launch of a Tomahawk missile.

New for 2005 (and included in the $49 payment) is the 4D Flight Simulator ride at the Batlleship New Jersey! "Fly" a Seahawk plane launched from the fantail of the Battleship. Soar over the island of Iwo Jima and evade anti-aircraft fire. Engage an enemy plane in a dogfight then land on the water next to the Battleship.

The Battleship New Jersey organization has some important rules:
- Campers MUST be at least 7 years old (no exceptions)
- There must be one adult for each child

If you would like more information, their "preboarding package" (155k PDF) includes the details on how to pack, where to go, and other rules regarding the ship.
